Latin FC player pathway
The LATIN FC player pathway is a comprehensive programme designed to nurture young football talent from the age of five, focusing on both technical and psychosocial skill development. This approach aims to prepare players for competitive environments and facilitate their potential progression into professional football clubs.
That however, is not our only goal. We place a high emphasis on developing the person. Thats why our ethos revolves around professionalism, conduct of high a standard and a strong education as at LATIN FC, we ensure that all players can have a prospective career in football as a player, coach, scout or analyst. If players want to have a career away from the game our job is to support them in by creating an environment that promotes a growth mindset.
-
At the entry level, players aged five are introduced to the sport through a foundational curriculum that emphasizes basic technical skills, such as dribbling, passing, and shooting, alongside basic game rules. The environment is structured to be enjoyable and encouraging, fostering a love for the game while promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.
Through engaging activities and small-sided games, young players not only develop their physical abilities but also acquire essential cognitive skills. This initial stage is pivotal, as it builds a solid foundation that players will carry with them as they advance in the programme.
-
As players progress to the ages of 9 to 12, they are afforded increased opportunities to showcase their skills through numerous trials with professional clubs. This is a critical period where young athletes are assessed not only on their technical prowess but also on their psychosocial readiness to compete at a higher level.
During this stage of the pathway, the focus begins to shift towards refining individual skills, understanding game tactics, and improving overall physical fitness. Training sessions become more structured and often simulate real match conditions. Players learn to analyse their performance and understand their roles within a team structure. Feedback is continuously provided to help them refine their skills.
Should a player be successful in securing a position with a professional club during this phase, they will transition directly to the new club's developmental programme. However, for those players who may require additional time for development, the LATIN FC Youth Development Programme (YDP) becomes the next step.
-
By the time players reach the age of 15, they have undergone a comprehensive developmental journey that prepares them well for the rigours of professional football. The skills acquired through both technical training and psychosocial development are essential for success in the competitive landscape of football.
Ultimately, the LATIN FC player pathway aims not only to produce technically adept players but also well-rounded individuals capable of handling the challenges that come with sports at a professional level. The programme is committed to fostering talent that is disciplined, resilient, and ready to excel in their footballing journey.
